Eligible Applicants: Local educational agencies

Required Eligibility Criteria: School districts and county offices of education with an average daily attendance of fewer than 2,501 students.

Funding Description: Funding is provided to small school districts and county offices of education to upgrade school buses to comply with 1992 federal safety standards. When allocating funding, the first priority will be for the purchase of new school buses to replace existing vehicles. The second priority will be for reconditioning existing school buses.  Any remaining funds will be available for the purchase of new school buses to increase the fleet owned by the district or county office.
